Global Obesity Rates Are Skyrocketing

Global Obesity MapA recent report by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), covering data from 188 countries, determined that 30% of the world’s population is overweight or obese. That’s 2.1 BILLION people, and growing. Obesity is a threat to public health because it leads to diabetes, heart disease, and higher rates of cancer.

According to IHME,

“The rise in global obesity rates over the last three decades has been substantial and widespread, presenting a major public health epidemic in both the developed and the developing world.” Read more…

For the first time in human history, more people are going to die from over-eating than they will from malnutrition. This is simply sad. The world has traded common sense eating for the convenience of packaged and prepared foods, refined carbs, and a westernized diet of burgers, cola, and fries.

We must turn this around!

How sad people can eat themselves to death. I wish everyone could see what’s wrong with the food system. How they want you to overindulge, supersize everything & they market to children .

I told a friend about McDonalds and she said ” well I just love McDonalds”that’s the reason why people will die..lazy to cook healthy meals..easy way out for them with fast foods..give it to their children ..they will pay the price…I see fat children every day and their fat parents who don’t care…parent does not see his fat kid???? Does he not know his kid is not healthy??? Keeps feeding him???? Stupidity will kill people. ….

Gluttony is one of the seven deadly sins. We are being punished for our lack of self control.

I understand the feeling of just wanting to eat quickly, and the drive-thru is just too convenient! It cost me dearly when it came to my health, and many other things in my life! It wasn’t until my wife nearly left me that I finally figured out that I needed to change, take care of myself, and avoid the salty and fried foods that this article talks about. After being off of those foods, exercising to P90X and Insanity, as well as just riding my bike more, I’ve lost 25 of the 30lbs I’d like to lose. I’m still on my journey but it feels SOO MUCH better to be so close to where I want rather than one of the 2.1 billion people. That number is ridiculous!

People are funny. Never mind that proper nutrious food is extremely expensive. The majority of people are forced to eat garbage and shit that is bad for them by the good industry. There is too much power and money with those corporations and too many dirty politicians and law makers to change what is served us. Until then, they will continue to find different cheaper chemicals (and call it the “same as sugar) and continue to poison us. It’s actually all our fault for not standing up to these people and forcing them to stop making garbage.
