NEW: Fooducate for Vegetarians and Vegans

Fooducate Vegan and Vegetarian Settings

Happy Monday everyone!

Although we are not vegetarians, we do support efforts people are taking to move towards a more plant based diet. That’s why we are fans of Meatless Mondays.  So, if you are a vegan or vegetarian, good for you!

We’ve just added a new feature to the Fooducate iPhone app which lets you specify whether you are a vegetarian or vegan. (Android version will be ready next week is available too!!).

Starting today, if you’ve specified you are vegetarian or vegan, you will be warned if products you scan are not compatible with your diet. The app will even recommend healthier alternatives that are plant based. How cool is that!

Please check out this feature and let us know what you think.

Is the app available in Australia? I looked in the app store on my iPhone and couldn’t see it?

The app is only available in the US right now. Sorry for the inconvenience.

      US only. Sorry.

I like your efforts to help people make lifestyle changes. Your app has helped me for 2 years. I dont see the update yet, but I’ll look for it. I particularly like the report that shows %fat, carb, protein in daily diet. That is helping me lower fat intake, and all the risk factors associated with high dietary fat – even plant fat.

The update is automatic and controlled remotely. All you need to do is tap on the Menu icon, then on the goals icon, and scroll down until you see the veg options and turn the one you want from OFF to ON

But I see that this is a premium (pay for it) feature…is that correct?

  • Tracy

I am waiting anxiously for the Android update since I’ve been hoping for this feature for awhile now. Therefore, thank you thank you thank you!

Just checked out the tracking part of the app… Can you manually enter exercise times?

No. But we will implement that in an upcoming version.

    • http://www.fooducate.com/ Fooducate

Our iPhone app works well on iPad and iPad mini. Just search for Fooducate in the app store and you’ll be able to download the app

Great news! I’ve been vegan for 20 years so many of the things that some may consider “alternatives” are not actual alternatives to me. I’d love to see a seperate vegan version some day, too. One grading only vegan foods–fruits and veggies versus mock meats and pasta and rice dishes, etc. versus vegan chocolates and soymilk and such.
I checked out a few things and suspect that a couple of the foods listed as “seems to be vegan” are not even close, because they appear to e egg and dairy based, so perhaps you might also show the ingredients so informeed vegans can see for themselves.

Either way, I appreciate all the vegan efforts. Thank you!
