Mott’s for Tots Bone Health Juice [Nutrition Impostor]

Take a look at this juice. You’d think it was some magic elixir that will help your baby grow strong and healthy bones.

What your toddler will be getting is an addiction to sweet and cavities. That’s because there are 4 tsp of sugar per cup of this juice, despite the “40% Less sugar” claim.

And the calcium? it’s simply fortified into the mix. Not coming from real food at all.

Our advice to new parents: keep your baby on water for as long as possible. She’ll be perfectly fine with it unless she gets exposed to juice. Once kids develop the taste for sweetened beverage, it is very hard to get them to go back to plain old H2O.

I know someone that gives their 1.5 year old son Capri Sun. I’m not sure if that kid even knows what water tastes like.

So, first, the sugar. As far as I can tell, it’s all naturally occurring sugar from the fruit, right? And there is less sugar than apple juice because it’s diluted with water.

Where did this product come from? Mott’s web site does not list it or any calcium-fortified kid’s juices. I could find it on Amazon. But could this be a product that has already been pulled?

the ONLY reason it has 40% less sugar is because mott’s for tots is just juice & more water than normal juice has… it is cheaper just water down juice if parents insist on giving kids juice

My 14 yr old niece never took to juices and to this day refuses to drink any juice, water is her drink of choice.  Her 6 yr old brother on the other hand will ask you precisely what he’s thirsty for…juice, water and coca cola (the latter only at restaurants).  Only one glass of whatever he’s chosen unless its water. He knows the rules and sticks to them!

Dentists across the country continue to get rich thanks to all this and every other silly juice, sport drink and soda.
Why aren’t dentists telling pediatricians to STOP recommending juice for kids? Am I the only dentist with enough common sense to do this? There is absolutely ZERO benefit for ANYONE to drink juice! The only ones benefitting are the corporations. Eat an apple for pete’s sake!
