Waking up to a world without Steve Jobs

Sad to wake up to a world without Steve Jobs this morning. The San Francisco Bay area and tech community are in mourning. His passing is being compared to the deaths of Kennedy, Elvis, and Lennon. The legacy no less than that of Thomas Edison or Henry Ford.
Steve Jobs made the world a better place.
He inspired countless others to try and make the world a better place too. Fooducate would not exist if Jobs and the Apple team hadn’t invented the iPhone 4 years ago.
From a commencement speech Jobs gave at Stanford a few years ago:
No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life…
Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life.
Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice.
And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.
I followed his advice. I decided to leave a cushy executive position to start Fooducate and change the way the world eats. It’s still too early to tell if we will succeed, but Steve Jobs inspired me to follow my passion and do the best to make it happen. And for that I am eternally grateful.
May he rest in peace.
