When Will Fooducate be Available for Android?

UPDATE: The Android app is ready and can be downloaded here.

Since launching the Fooducate iPhone App, we’ve been swamped by requests for an Android version.

And we will be happy to oblige. We are working on an Android app, and expect it to be available soon.

How soon? A beta version should be out in several weeks.

      Right now we’ve got our hands full with iPhone and Android. But as we grow we hope to support additional platforms.

      The challenge with Non-US products is that, even if they are identical on the inside, they have different packaging and thus different barcodes. We currently have only a US database. Hopefully as we grow, we will expand to additional countries, and Canada is a the top of the list…

    If there isnt an app available for the android then you really shouldnt be advertising that there is one in magazines! in the ad it states the app is available in the android market.. already

      Our sincere apologies. We were too aggressive in our release date estimates when interviewed for that magazine several months ago.

    I had this app when i had the iphone it really helped me alot i lost 15 lbs why i used this app so im really hoping Andeoid get’s this Soon

    See in February it says several weeks.. I think that means never. I don’t know about you but Mid MAY is a little more than “several weeks”.

        So exactly how long is a bit more?  I’ve said it on Facebook and I’ll say it here, Android users make up the lion share of the market.  You have a great product.  Phrases such as “just a bit more” or “several weeks” do us and your reputation a great disservice.  Even a guesstimate for a delivery date would work!

          You do not want a “guesstimate” because they already provided their “guesstimate” was a few weeks.

          As a suggestion to Fooducate (since I have a background in software development), you need to manage consumer expectations.  Do not set an unrealistic date to “appease” consumers.  Rather, state something like “We are committed to delivering the software by July 1st but are working tirelessly to bring it to you much sooner.”  That way consumers are pleasantly surprised if it is released sooner and are not disappointed if it takes longer.

          If you do set an unrealistic date (like you already did), it is your responsibility to continually update the consumer.

    So excited for the Android version, I can’t even put it into words.  What a great tool to help get children involved in making better choices.  I would love an update as to an ETA, as it appears there hasn’t been an update lately.  Would also love some posts on how to explain and talk to children about food choices.  It is so confusing to an adult, I can’t seem to find the right words to for my children.

    Great grocery shopping tool! Andriod version works great on my galaxy ii s. My wife is hoping you come out with a windows phone 7.5 version for her HTC radar. She’s jealous.
